Summary:

Powin’s Product and Engineering team are seeking a Senior QA Automation Engineer to join the automation team.
The QA Automation Engineer will be involved in the simulation and testing of web services in an Agile team environment and Java
development. Partners closely with the QA teams (US & China), on development, simulation, and product teams to develop functional
automated tests.

This role will be an integral part of a product and engineering team that is going through some very exciting growth and development and
will be reporting to the QA Automation Manager.

Job Details:

  • Create automated software test suites for sprint-based releases
  • Work with the QA automation manager in developing new testing frameworks for future products and releases
  • Work closely with the simulation team on tool development for testing purposes
  • Work together with the manual software and firmware QA team on automating the new features
  • Enhance and maintain robust functional and regression suites
  • Collaborate with the automation team in China and ensure the deliverables are met
  • Take ownership and lead the automation of certain modules and drive them through delivery while collaborating with the rest of the teams
  • Understanding of the product and be able to provide smart solutions for the automation needs
  • Collaborate extensively with product and dev teams on the product requirements to create automated software tests
  • Driving changes into the application under test with requirements for test methods, fixtures, mocks, detection mechanisms, and other utilities
  • Maintain automated regression suites/packages to be compliant with changing requirements and features
  • Produce documentation/training material for other team members
  • Assist in the identification, selection, and implementation of tools, technologies, and practices that support the overall QA process
  • Must be able to multitask and support multiple projects that require support
  • Collaborate with QA leadership on communities of practice
  • Assist support team with reproducing, diagnosing, and resolving customer issues
  • Adept at asking for help when needed (we are all learning)
  • Other responsibilities as directed by the hiring manager

Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Computer Science or a related field; professional experience may substitute for formal education
  • 6+ years of experience working as a QA Automation Engineer or similar roles
  • Demonstrated knowledge of testing one or more of the following: API interfaces, databases/data stores, analytics
  • Experience in a Linux environment
  • Experience working on large scale distributed systems or relational/NoSQL databases
  • Strong knowledge of automation frameworks such as Junit or TestNG
  • Working experience of Selenium
  • Experience with Java, JavaScript, and the testing frameworks (like Mocha, Cucumber, Protractor, etc.)
  • Experience working with CI/CD pipelines and deployment environments
  • Ability to create and maintain data sets for testing
  • Experience debugging and capturing backend failures and network issues
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated competence and ability to be self-motivated when analyzing problems
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and to be an outstanding team player
  • Ability to learn new frameworks and environments
  • Experience with Agile, continuous integration (Jenkins, Travis, etc.)
  • Excellent critical thinking skills
  • High level of initiative and self-motivation
  • Good understanding of test case management tools
  • Agile software development experience in delivering automation within a sprint
