The Systems Engineering team comprises subject matter experts as an integral part of Powin’s scalability and long-term approach to customer success and experience.

The Systems Engineering team defines system requirements and provides day-to-day support to Sales, Sales Engineering, and Project Engineering. Expertise, training, mentoring, studies, and analysis. Responsible for providing support to project requirements and various tools to elevate and streamline the Project Success Team. Systems. Partners with Engineering to ensure projects fulfill customer functionality, contract requirements to provide system solutions and support the customer experience through the entire customer lifecycle.

The Integrated Power Systems Engineer will be a subject matter expert and resource for the Sales, Bid Management, Project Engineering, Strategic Sourcing and customers on all topics related to power inverters, DC-DC converters, transformers, and meters and support development of inverter-based battery energy storage systems. This position will use technical expertise to deeply understand the benefits and features of supplier product offerings and how they can be best integrated with the Powin battery energy storage system.

Job Details:

  • Partners with the sales engineering and project engineering teams on selection of power conversion systems (inverters and converters), transformers, and meters to meet system designs and specifications for both standard and non-standard customer requirements
  • Works with the Sales team, bid management team, and the customers to review and provide support for technical documents required in customer contracts
  • Partners with strategic sourcing as a technical resource for project specific procurement, standard offerings development, and support the development of standard price lists
  • Ensures system project designs align with product short-circuit ratings, UL9540 requirements, and application solutions for grid following and grid forming
  • Provides documentation, white papers, and training to internal and external customers
  • Undertakes research and training to enhance existing offerings and fill-in gaps in knowledge, expertise, and skills
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


  • 5+ years of experience in supporting development, design, and implementation of large-scale electrical systems
  • BS or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering or related field
  • Design or Application Engineering experience with inverter-based systems such as battery energy storage, renewable generation, Uninterruptible Power Supplies, or large-scale Variable Frequency Drives
  • Familiarity with SCADA, Modbus, and networking applications
  • Ability to create system designs, single lines and block diagrams using AutoCAD or Visio/Smart Draw
  • Demonstrated ability to successfully overcome the challenges and uncertainties of a fast paced and rapidly growing company
  • Familiarity with electrical analysis, modeling, and associated tools like ETAP, PSCAD, etc.
  • Specific experience in Battery Energy Storage Systems is a plus
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate professionally verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable communicating and interfacing with technical and nontechnical stakeholders
  • Occasional travel to visit vendors, customers, or project sites (domestic and international)
