The Field Technician/Engineer position plays a key role in Powin's organization and is critical to operational success. The ideal candidate is a talented individual with a desire to explore uncharted territory and take on the challenge of building the next energy infrastructure. The candidate who will flourish in this role will be a quick learner, comfortable with multi-tasking, and detail-oriented. Most importantly the candidate will understand the importance of getting the job done right the first time.

Field Installation

  • Prioritize and enforce safe work practices as described in the Energy Control Program and Installation Manual, contribute, and sign off on JHA/JSA
  • Act as Company’s onsite, customer focused representative; adhere to customer’s safety program and onsite protocol; serve as Company resource for answers to technical questions pertaining Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) installation manual.
  • Provide technical support for field teams.
  • Act as training lead for installers and field teams.
  • Interface with back office engineering as required.
  • Track, report, and support resolution of onsite system issues.
  • Provide daily progress reports during the installation phase.

Project Commissioning Tasks

  • Act as onsite lead for BESS commissioning and acceptance testing.
  • Provide remote commissioning support and fault isolation troubleshooting support.
  • Work directly with HVAC, Fire Suppression System (FSS) PCS and other equipment commissioning teams.
  • Develop and execute commissioning plans, including resourcing, logistics, and scheduling.
  • Perform battery examinations/inspections, identify, and resolve issues and errors, and run final commissioning.
  • Provide daily progress reports during the Commissioning phase.
  • Create professional commissioning and testing reports for internal stakeholders and external customers.

Field Operations

  • Act as onsite and remote subject matter expert pertaining to the troubleshooting and repair of BESS equipment.
  • .Provide daily progress reports for field operations work.
  • Create professional troubleshooting and or progress reports for internal stakeholders and external customers.
  • Complete periodic system inspection and maintenance or assist service contractors with the same.
  • Assist with spare parts inventory management & logistics.

Travel to customer locations is required. Work schedule is 4 weeks on, 1 week off (paid). Overtime will be required as necessary.
